Audubon Park - Orlando, Florida Real Estate
If you are looking for the traditional Orlando neighborhood that is conducive to raising a family then look no further. Audubon Park, located in the heart of Orlando, is comprised of over 800 homes on large lots with assorted architectural styles and beautiful tree-lined streets. Audubon Park is found between Corrine Drive on the north, Bennett Road to the east, Bumby Ave. to the west, and Plaza Terrace Drive on the south. Within the neighborhood, streets are named after birds (e.g. Bluebird Pl., Oriole Ave., Pelican Lane) giving the area a unique, simple charm.
The homes in Audubon Park are mainly single-family home. The average home size is around 1,400 square feet, typically featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Some homes sit on the edges of the three lakes in Audubon Park (Lake Shannon, Lake Cay Dee, and Druid Lake). There is no public access to these lakes, so these houses are highly desirable.
There is one park within the Audubon Park boundaries, named Mitchell L. Nutter Park, which is great for walking the dogs, having a picnic, or playing with the kids on the playground. Nearby is Blue Jacket Park, which is larger and offers amenities including baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, trails, picnic areas, and a concession stand. On top of great recreation opportunities, Audubon Park offers unique shopping with a funky, eclectic feel. One local hot spot is the Blue Bird Bake Shop which bakes its own cupcakes, brownies, scones, and more. If you are interested in local produce, the Audubon Park Community Market is every Monday evening in the center of Audubon Park.
Audubon Park Elementary, Glenridge Middle School, and Winter Park High School are just a few of the public schools in the area. There are also numerous private schools such as Lake Highland Preparatory School, Beeman Park Preparatory School, and Montessori Children’s Academy. The Florida Hospital Orlando is within minutes of Audubon Park. Citizens of Audubon Park also have the convenience of having the I-4 and 408 Expressway nearby.
